Do to the rising waters along the banks of the Cumberland River, we are having to cancel tomorrow’s Cumberland River Run - for the 3rd straight month this year! Hope to see you on September 19th!
🛶Hey Barbourville!🛶The best event of the summer is coming up this Saturday, August 15, 2026 on the Cumberland River. In collaboration with Dr. Thomas Walker State Historic Site, we proudly present The Cumberland River Run. Whether you’re passionate about Kayaking/Canoeing, a complete beginner, or you’re simply looking to enjoy sometime paddling on the Cumberland River, this event is for you!!! This event is not a race. It is a leisurely canoe/kayak float. The 5 mile river run begins at the old Artemus Bridge and ends at Thompson Park. The Cumberland River Run is truly an outstanding way to spend the morning with your family.
Cumberland River Run offers a unique experience. You will test your endurance through rocky shoals, class 1 rapids, and 5miles of the most beautiful river in our area from the Artemus Bridge to Thompson Park in Barbourville, KY.
Don’t have a canoe or kayak!!! We have you covered. Please send a private message to our page letting us know which you would like by 12:00pm (Noon) on Friday, August 14, 2026. If you need a Kayak or Canoe, there is NO rental fee!! Have your own Kayak/Canoe, the event is FREE! . Youth under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited so register now. Let us know if you would like to reserve a kayak or canoe. Also, if you are bringing your own vessel, message our page so we have a head count for transportation.
Registration begins at 9:00am and transportation to put-in will leave Thompson Park at 9:45am for a 10:00am start time.
At each event, you and your canoe/kayak will be shuttled to the launch area. Safety staff will be on the river with you. You must wear your life jacket at all times. After your journey, you will end where we met and you parked earlier. 🛶🛶🛶🛶
