After a long drive from Kentucky to middle Georgia—complete with rush hour traffic in Atlanta—we made it home yesterday evening around 6:30. We were exhausted, but deeply grateful.
I want to thank each and every one of you for the love and support you’ve shown us. I’m truly overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity that’s been extended to help Milo.
My post about his injuries was meant as a plea—a reminder to always leash your dogs to prevent tragedies like this.
Your support has meant more than words can express. I love you all, and I promise to pay it forward.
Milo was a trooper the entire way, resting quietly in his crate in the back seat without a single whine. Benjamin rode up front as the sole co-pilot. I think he missed his buddy but didn’t seem to mind having a little extra room in their shared car seat.
I also want to give a huge shout-out to Love’s gas stations. Their fenced dog parks truly made this trip possible. Because of Milo’s injuries, he can’t wear a collar or harness, so leashing him wasn’t an option—and I certainly couldn’t risk putting him down to walk freely. At one stop, a Love’s employee had just watered the grass and told me the park was closed. When I explained our situation, he kindly turned off the water and let us use the area. That small act of kindness meant the world.
We had an incredible trip—up until Milo was injured—and I’m especially grateful for the wonderful people I met at T@dapalooza. The kindness, support, concern, and love of all my friends has been heart-warming and has carried us through this horrible event. My heart is full.
