Campers rejoice! WMS Tri-County Foray is a beautiful event in the northwestern part of Wisconsin where you get to stay at the scenic campground called Eagle Point in quaint Cumberland, WI.

The event includes guided nature hikes where we discuss mushrooms and plant ID and edibility, and tree identification. We also have Food cooking demos and tastings, 2 gourmet, sit-down dinners, lectures from experts, a salt-packing workshop, a UV night hike, mushroom cultivation demonstrations, and a focus on science! Kids are also welcome at this event. Ready to meet the friendliest group of people you can imagine? Join us!

Camping is included in the cost of the event, and at less than 200 dollars per person, this event is a great value!

Exploring Wild Foods is the best part of the Tri-County Foray. And we celebrate that by having a cooking demo by two amazing chefs -Chris Gavin, and Chad Hyatt and by having lots of our own participants bring in wild foods that they have created in their own foraging journeys.

The Wild Foods Potluck has had so many incredible creations in the past including mushroom pate, ramp butter on homemade bread, black trumpet cream sauce on pasta, queen Anne's lace jelly, mullberry syrup, Venison cheddar jalapeno sausages, hassenfeffer, shrubs, and many more wonderful delights brought in by our particpants. Last year many people said that was their favorite part of the foray, so if you are keen on trying culinary delights, then join us and see what our members are cooking up this year and bring your appetites!

Tri-County Foray wants you to meet our presenters! Introducing Chad Hyatt! Chad was part of the foray several years ago and was extremely popular, we are so glad the stars aligned and our schedules lined up this year to bring him BACK!
Chad Hyatt is a classically trained chef that has spent more than a decade working in restaurants and private clubs around the San Francisco Bay Area. You may already know that Chad released an innovative wild mushroom cookbook titled, The Mushroom Hunter’s Kitchen. He spends his free time hunting for and learning about mushrooms, along with seeking out new techniques and traditional ethnic recipes to apply to them and share them with us! Chad frequently demos and teaches wild mushroom cookery at private and public events, does wild mushroom pop-up dinners, and We are getting hungry just thinking about his fantastic creations!

Meet Sam Thayer! Sam is going to be leading our VIP Plant Walk this year at the WMS Tri-County Foray. Sam is one of the world's foremost authorities on foraging edible plants. He has led our plant walks the past few years and makes each one of them totally different and new. He is also a world reknown author of books on foraging -enthusiastic and energetic and entirely entertaining. If you would like to join Sam on our plant walk, join us at the Tri-County Foray! Who else will be expertly answering your questions at the Tri-County Foray? Meet Brennon Strnad!

Brennon is our new co-Foray Director this year, and will be helping out with getting things organized at the event. Along with that Brennon is an awesome foray leader and mushroom identifier and has a gentle teaching style that so many folks respond well to.

Brennon is on the Wisconsin Mycological Society Board of Directors, he is the leader of the Science Committee and has done some great things this year including implementing a vouchering system for WMS, starting a DNA sequencing project and talking to organizations about partnering to start a Wisconsin-based Herbarium (Fungarium) partnership.
