We have seen even here how angry violent crowds can destroy not only history but people. Their lives, their hearts. their incomes, their beliefs, so sacred to each individual, crushed because of VIOLENCE. We would like to share a consolidated update on the mandatory travel insurance requirements recently introduced by the Governments of Kenya and Tanzania.
Both countries have implemented new insurance requirements for international visitors, and it is important that all guests are informed of these additional costs and procedures well in advance of travel.

KENYA
The Government of Kenya has implemented mandatory travel health insurance for non-Kenyan visitors entering the country for stays of less than 90 days. Confused? phone us
Key Information:
Cost: USD 44 per person, plus applicable portal charges, bringing the total to approximately USD 52 per person.

Purchase for New eTA Applications: Guests applying for a new Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) are required to purchase the mandatory health insurance as part of the eTA application process. The official eTA portal is https://etakenya.go.ke/

Previously Issued eTAs: All guests who obtained their eTA before the implementation of this requirement must purchase the mandatory health insurance separately, even if their eTA has already been approved. The insurance cab be purchase from https://insurance.ecitizen.go.ke/

Purchase Timing: Insurance must be purchased before departure for Kenya, preferably well in advance of the scheduled flight. Guests should ensure that their purchase is completed and proof of insurance is available before checking in with their airline to avoid potential inconvenience during the check-in process.

Maximum Coverage: USD 50,000 per person
Includes emergency medical treatment and hospitalisation, emergency medical transportation and evacuation, prescribed medicines, mental health treatment and repatriation of mortal remains, subject to applicable benefit limits, policy terms and exclusions.

TANZANIA
Following the introduction of mandatory inbound travel insurance for Mainland Tanzania on 1 October 2026, the National Insurance Corporation (NIC) and Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC) have clarified the requirements for visitors travelling between Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.

1. One Insurance Policy for Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar
Guests travelling to both Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar are now required to purchase only one mandatory travel insurance policy, rather than separate policies for each destination.
The policy will cover travel to both destinations within its validity period.
2. Insurance Purchase Based on First Point of Entry

The insurance provider is determined by the guest's first point of entry into Tanzania:
Entering through Mainland Tanzania: Purchase insurance from the National Insurance Corporation (NIC).

Entering through Zanzibar: Purchase insurance from the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC).

Guests travelling between Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar during the same trip will not need to purchase a second policy.

We strongly recommend that all guests purchase their mandatory insurance online before departure, rather than waiting until arrival, to minimise potential delays and inconvenience at the point of entry.
