Yosemite is beautiful and so peaceful in the fall. 🍁🍁
📌Save this for your fall Yosemite trip!
Fall is one of the most underrated times to visit Yosemite. Summer crowds are gone, the Valley turns gold, and the light on the granite walls is at its most beautiful.
Here’s what to know before you go:
🍂 Peak color: Mid-October to early November in Yosemite Valley. Look for yellow big-leaf maples near the Chapel, golden black oaks in the meadows, and red-pink dogwoods along the Merced River.
🚗 Go early for the high roads: Tioga Road and Glacier Point Road close with the first significant snow, often in November. If Olmsted Point, Tenaya Lake, or the Glacier Point views are on your list, plan an October visit.
💧 Set waterfall expectations: Most falls, including Yosemite Falls, are low or dry in autumn. Fall is about foliage, reflections, and quiet trails rather than roaring water.
📸 Best light: Valley View and Tunnel View are at their best in late afternoon, when the river is calm and El Capitan glows.
🧗 Bonus: Fall is climbing season on El Capitan. Bring binoculars to El Cap Meadow, and after dark, look for headlamps on the wall.
