Fishing Seasons: December-May: Roanoke River Striped Bass Tar-Pam Guide Service targets wintering populations of striped bass on the lower Roanoke River near Plymouth, NC from December through mid-April. Triple digit days are possible. In mid-April, we move up the river to catch the spring spawning run from early April through the end of May on the upper Roanoke in Weldon, NC June-December: Pamlico/Pungo River Red Drum, Speckled Trout, and Flounder The brackish waters of the Pamlico and Pungo Rivers are host to a variety saltwater species ideal for light tackle fishing. The beauty of this fishery is that sometimes you don't know what you'll catch on your next cast. July-September: Pamlico Sound Giant Red Drum For big fish enthusiast who likes to fish heavier tackle. We target these 30-60 pound behemoths from July through September in the Pamlico Sound. These are the largest red drum within their geographic range in the Southeastern U.S.
