We’re breaking down a recent intentional luxury itinerary that proves the magic is in the details. From private transfers in St. Lucia to curated villa stays in the Maldives, a truly complex trip deserves a professional touch.

Recently, my clients wanted to visit Secrets St. Lucia but were not thrilled about the 90 minute drive from the airport to the resort. When I sent their proposal, which included helicopter transfers, reducing their travel time from 90 minutes to 10 minutes, they were thrilled. They were also super excited for a more intimate view of St. Lucia's geography.

We booked them preferred level; once they arrived at the resort, they went straight to the Preferred Club Lounge to be checked in. While they waited, they enjoyed a rum punch and afterwards were escorted to their room where they went straight into relaxation mode in their private plunge pool.

During their say, they opted for an island adventure that included hiking the Pitons, a rejuvenating mud bath, and then a refreshing swim at Toraille Waterfall. Their tour operator picked them up at the resort, and each location included a guide to make sure that not only was each tour safe, but to assist in capturing memories for guests.

Welcome to my Questions in Travel segment, where I answer some of travel's most asked questions and give in depth answers behind the logic.

Lets kick it off with: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐈 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝?

While the skinny answer is "it depends," the in depth logistical answer is that it will vary based on what you want out of your vacation.

If you plan on visiting all 4 parks, I would recommend 5 days minimum. This gives you the time to visit all the parks and then take a day of rest (your feet will thank you later) to hang out at the pool or visit Disney Springs without feeling like you are missing something. If you plan on visiting the water parks as well, I would still recommend a day where you aren't meeting a park schedule.

If you're trying to do a Disney immersion, I would recommend 7 days minimum. This gives you time to visit all the parks and have a day of rest, and then also return to your favorites and immerse yourself without the distraction of missing out. By day 5, you've already visited all the parks, done all the dining reservations, and are finished with the hustle and bustle. Now you're going to enjoy all of your favorite rides without feeling like you have to go on the ones that are not quite that entertaining. See the shows a second time and watch from a different perspective, have that Dole Whip without worrying about missing your Lightning Lane. Take your time at that character breakfast, because you aren't rushing to rope drop, or even resort hop.

Of course, we can keep going, but these are my immediate recommendations for how many days to take for a full Disney World Vacation.

If you or someone in your circle has a Spirit Airlines flight on the books, stop what you’re doing and check your reservation immediately.

Spirit has officially announced they are winding down operations effective today, and all scheduled flights have been canceled. In the world of travel, we call this a "black swan event"—it’s sudden, disruptive, and requires a level-headed strategy to navigate.

As the situation unfolds, several legacy carriers are already stepping up with "rescue fares" and temporary assistance for displaced travelers. I’ve included screenshots of the current options below to help you pivot your plans quickly.

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘅 𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀:
Trust the Source, Not the Hype: Go directly to an airline’s official website or verified social media channels. In high-stress moments like this, scammers often set up look-alike sites. Geaux straight to the source.

Audit the "Rescue Fares": Don’t assume every route or date qualifies for a discount. These are often standby or specific point-to-point "distress" rates. Read the fine print before you commit your budget.

The Golden Rule: Stay Away from the Airport: Unless you have a confirmed ticket on a different carrier, do not head to the terminal. Customer service desks will be overwhelmed, and you’ll have better luck securing a seat from the comfort of your home or hotel.

Leverage Your Advisor: If you booked through a professional travel advisor, contact them now. This is exactly why we exist. We are already behind the scenes, navigating the "back-end" systems to get our clients re-accommodated while the rest of the world is stuck on hold.

Protection & Recovery: If you booked independently, keep a paper trail. Check Spirit’s official refund portal, but also pull up your credit card’s "Guide to Benefits." You may have built-in trip interruption insurance that covers the cost of a new, last-minute ticket.

This is a fast-moving situation, and details are shifting by the hour. Verify everything directly with the operating airline before putting money down on new plans. Stay calm, be intentional, and let’s get you where you need to be.
