What's our staff up today?
While some were out reading water meters, PW Director Markee jumped on a forklift to help unload our new playground equipment.
Now our office staff is inventorying the shipment near the ducks who are also enjoying the sunshine!

The playground at Al Griffin Memorial Park is now closed.

City Staff are removing the old playground equipment and will soon be preparing the area for the installation of new playground equipment. The new playground equipment was chosen based on a competitive process involving multiple vendors of playground equipment and several community members, who worked as an ad hoc committee for this sole purpose. The new playground will not only be more modern, but also include accessible, inclusive activities for children of all ages, with specific pieces geared towards different age groups.
This project was made possible thanks to $200,000 in grants from Oregon Parks & Recreation Department’s Local Government Grant Program, Tillamook Coast Visitors Association, and Bay City TLT funds.
We’d like to thank the committee members for their active participation in developing the final design for this project: Angie Cherry, April Foster, Marly, Tom Imhoff, Kathleen Leipzig, Parker Sammons, Helen Wright, and Councilor Justin Howard.
We look forward to welcoming children of all ages and abilities to play on the new playground in the near future!

Test results are back and all is good.

*****

UPDATE: REPAIRS ARE COMPLETE AND SYSTEM IS BEING RECHARGED.

CAUTIONARY BOIL ALERT IS IN PLACE. If your service was reduced to less than 20 PSI you should boil your water.

Samples are being shipped to the lab. When we get results we will inform you of any changes in the boil notice. (Likely Tuesday)

Original Post:
In order to complete a critical repair, the City of Bay City will need to shut off water service for multiple areas of town on Monday, April 27, 2026. Beginning at approx. 8:00 am, water service will be shut off in the following neighborhoods:

All houses on Bayfront Lane and all houses on Elliott, Spruce, Warren, Hare, Salmon & Clam
Houses in the area between High, 8th, 7th, and Pacific (including Ocean)
The “downtown area” and much of the so-called Low System, including all of Main, Trade, Dewpoint, A, B, Hayes Oyster Drive and the western block of D Street.

This repair is at a crucial junction of the entire system, and all efforts will be made to bring the system back online as soon as possible.

Please prepare for this service outage. Store water for use during the day, and minimize usage.

We anticipate having the repair completed mid-day, and will alert residents through the City website, notification (email alert) system, and on Facebook.

We anticipate having to issue a boil water alert once the repairs are completed, until testing will enable us to lift the notice. In this event, we will notify customers in the same manner.

A good crowd of 100+ people came to today's State of the City event, where we enjoyed good company, good conversations, good food, and Mayor Liane Welch gave an overview of various projects, kicked off the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Utility Assistance Program, and presented the John Gettman Volunteer of the Year Award to Gloria Wiechmann and the Bay City Booster Club.
A good time was had by all!

Great recognition for the Fish Peddler!
Known primarily for its oysters, Pacific Oyster also serves fish and chips that have quietly become a must-order for regular visitors.
The setting is wonderfully unpretentious. Bay City is not a tourist hotspot, which means the food here exists purely for the people who seek it out.
Tillamook County is famous throughout Oregon for its dairy and seafood. Pacific Oyster fits naturally into that tradition of quality local food production.
The fish and chips arrive with a satisfying crunch and a flaky, moist interior that reflects the freshness of the catch. It is a simple dish done with genuine skill.
Prices are reasonable, and the portions reflect good value for the quality on offer. This is the kind of place where you order more than you planned because everything looks too good to pass up.
Bay City sits just north of Tillamook, making Pacific Oyster an easy addition to a Tillamook day trip. The drive along Tillamook Bay alone makes the journey worthwhile.
Pacific Oyster is proof that the best fish and chips sometimes come from the most unexpected small-town locations.https://myfamilytravels.com/oregon-restaurants-serving-fish-and-chips-so-good-youll-dream-about-them-all-week/?fbclid=IwY2xjawQww3lleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeItNECtm5nD3J2_Vv3KSYUl4eigzWMxeTilegWyj2_D7n-XMrdg01kntxftM_aem_waFJUHvEpWH85H7aXs7lkw

These Oregon spots serve fish and chips so good, you’ll be daydreaming about crispy batter and golden fries like it’s a full-time job.
