Bay City, Michigan โ Jordan Dice, a local entrepreneur and technologist, has acquired Bay City Boat Lines, the company that owns and operates the Princess Wenonah and Islander on the Saginaw River. The purchase marks the latest addition to Diceโs Tri-City portfolio, which includes the Midland Mall, St. Laurent Brothers, State Theatre of Bay City, Court Street Theater in Saginaw, and now Bay City Boat Lines.
Reflecting on the boatsโ history and his vision for their future, Dice shared a personal connection to the business. โI remember being eight years old aboard the Princess Wenonah on its first tour and thinking how cool and iconic it was for Bay City,โ said Dice. โI plan to operate the boats for many years to come and integrate them with the entertainment experiences weโre building through the theaters I own.โ
Founded in 1998 by the Fournier family, Bay City Boat Lines was created to fill a gap in passenger vessel services on the Saginaw River, offering sightseeing tours, onboard concerts, and private charters. Operating from Wenonah Park, the company is best known for its narrated historical cruises aboard its flagship vessel, the Princess Wenonah.
Originally built in 1954 as a car ferry named the William M. Miller, the Princess Wenonah has welcomed more than 250,000 passengers over the past two decades, alongside her fleet-mate, the Islander. Together, the vessels showcase the natural beauty of the Saginaw River while celebrating the regionโs rich maritime and lumbering history. Entertaining guests with dining, music, and dancing is a tradition the entire Bay City Boat Lines staff takes great pride in continuing.
