Goals of the Saginaw Bay Water Trail Alliance:

* To engender economic development by promoting non-motorized watercraft use by local residents, as well as visitors, so as to benefit the tourism, hospitality, waterfront businesses, and watercraft businesses. This includes promoting interest in using the water oriented facilities and attractions within the Saginaw Bay Watershed through group trips,

competitions, regattas and watercraft festivals.

* To promote and facilitate the development, improvement, and management of access launch sites for non-motorized water craft on the shore of Saginaw Bay, and the banks of its river and tributaries across several (22) counties making up the Saginaw Bay Watershed, on lands owned by governments, non-profits and private entities.

* To increase consumer awareness and appreciation by the public of water and shore ecology, the wildlife there, and the historical cultural assets, by their participating in non-motorized watercraft use.

* To publicize the manifold health advantages of using non-motorized watercraft as a source of exercise, physical development, and fulfillment to able bodied and physically challenged citizens.

* To educate the public and cooperate with other groups educating the public in safety while using non-motorized watercraft.

* By non-motorized watercraft we include: kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle craft, pedal-powered watercraft, rowing boats, and also day-sailing sail boats, and ice boats.

* Our organization partners with those entities that wish to generate water trail maps, development plans, grant writing and letters of support, all focused on implementation and building of water trail sites, including the water trail junctions with land trails.
