Today our marina lost its beacon. For those who have come out with us you have no doubt met Dave, the marina manager. He was witty, corny, eccentric but most of all he loved people. He loved making people laugh and he gave the best hugs.... he just changed his profile photo to this one last week. It is fitting - a map - we never know what life is going to bring and it can change so quickly.
Dave you were loved. You will be missed. We have a hole in our hearts but we know you fly free and will be watching over all of us. Rest easy buddy. 💔

📞 The phone has been ringing… and we hate having to say, “Sorry, we’re already booked!” 😭🚤
We’ve had quite a few disappointed callers looking for last-minute trips on busy summer weekends.
The Apostle Islands aren’t going anywhere…but our available boat times definitely disappear! 😄

If you know you want to get out on the lake, BOOK EARLY—especially for weekends! We’d much rather be saying “Absolutely, we’ve got you!” than “Shoot…we’re full.”

There are some traditions we absolutely love... and this is one of them. ❤️🎶

Every year, this wonderful family books us to get them out to Stockton Island for their annual camping trip. For the past two years we have left the marina with a cheerful ukulele serenade. It's become one of our favorite moments of the season!
Thank you for making Willigan's Adventures part of your family's Apostle Islands tradition—we can't wait to do it all again next year! 🌊🚤🎵

We can see the marina but that is about it. We've already had to cancel a charter this morning due to the heavy smoke. The air quality simply isn't safe, and visibility is extremely limited.
Please keep those in evacuation zones, the firefighters, and everyone battling the wildfires across Northern Minnesota and Canada in your thoughts and prayers. 🙏 Pray for rain.

🐻 Outer Island is taking a little “bear break” while our furry neighbors remind us who really lives here!
Please remember: a fed bear is a problem bear! Help us keep the islands wild and open by using bear boxes, securing food and trash, packing out anything you bring in, and never leaving food unattended (even in a kayak or boat on shore). A little extra care from all of us helps keep visitors safe and protects the bears too!

Outer Island Modified Closure Update: The island closure has been modified to a temporary nighttime closure from 10 PM to 6 AM. Outer Island is closed to all use during nighttime hours (10 PM–6 AM). Day use is permitted outside the closure window. Due to increased human–bear interactions and food storage concerns, Outer Island was closed to all use beginning July 11, 2026. The modified nighttime closure remains necessary to ensure visitor safety due to ongoing bear–human interactions.

Help protect wildlife and yourself:

• Secure food, trash, and all scented items in bear boxes or boat cabins
• Never leave food unattended
• Keep a clean camp
• Pack out all trash and food waste
