We’ve been keeping an eye on a unique wildlife story unfolding on Lake Superior this winter

Reports have confirmed that a small pod of whales became trapped in the lake after navigating through the St. Lawrence Seaway before ice conditions set in. While rare, similar situations have been documented in the past when marine mammals stray into freshwater systems

With spring approaching and ice beginning to break up, sightings are expected to increase in the Apostle Islands.

Because of this, we’re excited to announce a brand new experience for summer 2026… Apostle Islands Whale Watching Tours!
