A man from Menomonee Falls was celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary in Iceland when, on the last day of the trip, he fell and sustained a life-threatening brain injury.

After spending weeks in an Icelandic ICU, Tom Proffitt is now back in the United States and remains in critical condition. While supporting Proffitt, his family also has to think about paying international medical bills.

"What we didn't realize was that Medicare does not cover overseas hospitals or international hospital stays," Jackie Seidl, Proffitt's daughter, said.

Seidl estimates the cost will be hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Looking for a hotel stay in Athens, then Athenarum Portus Life & Style Hotel Piraeus is the place for you. Stayed here 2 weeks ago. Wonderful experience. There is the option to include buffet breakfast with your reservation. Restaurants and open air market within short walking distance.

Location a short walk to Athens Metro (Blue Line) into City Center (Stops Syntagma or Monastiraki). Hop On/Off Bus stops are located at these stops. If traveling light, the Blue Line takes you directly to the airport. Approximately ~45 minute car ride between hotel & airport w/o traffic.

The hotel is a 10-15 minute ride to Cruise Terminal and 10 minute walk to Ferry Terminal. The hotel will pre-book your taxi/rideshare the night before departure. Highly recommend pre-book departure taxi/rideshare (to cruise terminal or airport) transportation.
