Full cover for a Port Townsend 11 nesting dingy, separate top and bottom, Weathermax fabric with Solarfix lifetime thread.
I patterned the cover on the floating dock adjacent to the boat. Then I started cutting, sewing, and CROSSED MY FINGERS, because there would be no second fitting. The boat left for the Looper Rendezvous in Norfolk, VA, and when the cover was finished, I shipped it off on a wing and a prayer. Perfect fit! (Big sigh of relief)

Wow! I happened on this gorgeous shot of the schooner Abbey Road approaching the Duluth, MN lift bridge. She's a Vagabond 52 staysail schooner. I'd almost forgotten. I built that fire-engine red fisherman staysail in Bayfield, WI in 2003. Hand-lofted on the floor, the old-fashioned way.
BTW, also built the in-boom roller mainsail, and the roller furling yankee.

Back when I had my sail loft in Bayfield Wisconsin, on the shores of Lake Superior, I repaired this type of spinnaker damage several times a year. I served the Lake Superior racing fleets of Bayfield and Duluth, and in active racing fleets such catastrophic damage is, though heartbreaking, not at all uncommon. It's very satisfying to send something like this back ot the door in one properly constructed piece.
