When I’m booking clients to St. Lucia and Barbados, this is where I tell them to splurge, and where I tell them to save.

The upgrade is worth it if you’re:
Honeymooning, because this is the trip where the little details matter.
Celebrating a milestone, because the right room and the right view make the whole stay feel bigger.
Finally taking the trip you’ve talked about for years, because yes, this is the moment to do it properly.

I’ve had clients debate whether the fancy suite was “too much,” then thank me later when they’re watching the sunset from their private plunge pool with a glass of champagne.

The resort that’s beautiful and buzzy with a DJ at the pool until 4pm is incredible for the right couple and a complete disaster for the ones who wanted quiet. Same for the romantic property that’s also the preferred venue for large group bookings in peak season. Or the room with the ocean view that gets the full afternoon sun directly into the bedroom.

I think about this all the time, and it’s exactly why the couples I book come home saying their trip was the best they’ve ever taken.

We just booked a couple for 7 nights at Secrets St. Lucia Resort & Spa, and here’s exactly why I chose it for them:

The beach is calm and swimmable, which mattered more than a flashy lobby ever could.

The adults-only setting gives you that quiet, polished feel without making the whole trip feel stiff.

The dining is strong enough that they won’t get bored after night two, especially with the Caribbean grill and fresh seafood spots on property.

This is the part of my job I love most.

Anyone can send you a list of top-rated resorts. Matching the right property to the way you actually travel is where the real value is.
