Osina and Sullivan hit the debate stage at our October 20th meeting!
On Tuesday, October 20, the Belle Harbor Property Owners Association (BHPOA) will host a debate between NYS Assembly candidates Pesach Osina (D) and Thomas Sullivan (R/C) at PS 114. Members of the PS 114 Student Council will participate.

This informational event will take place four days before Early Voting and two weeks before Election Day (November 3). “Our Association takes pride in making sure we have an informed citizenry in Rockaway,” BHPOA President Paul King said. “The election for our NYS Assembly seat was extremely close the last two times. That makes this forum a vital service. We are grateful to Mr. Osina and Mr. Sullivan for giving our citizens this time so close to the start of voting.”
This is the sixth candidates’ debate/forum that BHPOA has sponsored since 2021. The first was an impactful faceoff between City Council candidates Joann Ariola and Felicia Singh. The most recent was the pre-primary debate between Osina and Mike Scala in May.

As in May, Belle Harbor resident and lawyer Christopher Smith is scheduled to be the moderator. The Association distributed a survey to its members in September to get input on the questions to be asked. The debate will be one hour long.

The winner of this year’s election will replace Stacey Pfeffer-Amato, the long-time representative of Assembly District 23 (AD 23) in the NYS Assembly. Though sponsored by the Belle Harbor Property Owners Association, this forum is open to all residents of AD 23, across the peninsula, Broad Channel, Howard Beach and Ozone Park.
