From cereal boxes to conversation starters—meet Jabebo Studio, a local business turning recycled paperboard into eye-catching, nature-inspired earrings!

Starting back in the 1990’s, owner Kevin Abbott began playing around with the idea of mismatched earrings with colorful images that celebrate biodiversity and science. Each piece is handcrafted with care and finished with a protective resin coat.

The best part? Locals can donate their used cereal boxes to help fuel the creativity. Even the scraps get a second life as art!

History with a new heartbeat.

What was once a century-old metal factory is now Brass 16823, a beautifully reimagined event venue inside Bellefonte’s Titan Park.

Since opening in 2024, this industrial-chic space has hosted everything from weddings and theater productions to local markets and corporate events.

There's just two more weeks to go until the Bellefonte Easter Egg hunt!

On Saturday, April 19, families are invited to find 15,000 eggs hidden throughout Talleyrand Park. The event is open to children 12 and under, with designated age groups and a special needs area to ensure everyone can participate. In addition to candy filled eggs, some eggs will contain special prize coupons which can be redeemed for Easter baskets, bicycles, and more! 🎁 🚲

Sponsor activities will begin at 1 p.m. with the egg hunt promptly kicking off at 2 p.m.

A new initiative is bringing together independent retailers across Central Pennsylvania to highlight the importance of shopping local. The first-ever Central PA Indie Retailer Week runs from March 31 through April 7 and encourages shoppers to visit at least three participating small businesses during the week.

The event, which includes retailers from Bellefonte, State College, and beyond, is designed to celebrate independent storefronts and their role in creating vibrant communities.

Staci Egan, owner of smithandfrontpa in Bellefonte, spearheaded the local effort after being inspired by a similar event in Lancaster.

“In a world where large corporations dominate, Indie Retailer Week shines a light on the small, independent businesses that offer unique products and personal shopping experiences,” Egan said. “It’s about more than just sales—it’s about building community and supporting each other’s success.”
