Today we are joyously celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday. If you are an admirer of nature and wildlife, there is a very good chance you have listened to David Attenborough’s voice as he has taken us to all corners of the earth and has helped us to understand the natural world on a deeper level. We are so grateful for his research, his conservation efforts, and the inspiration he has sparked in so many of us to protect the planet and all its creatures. Happy birthday, Sir David Attenborough! May we continue to care for planet earth for hundreds of years to come.

On this International Leopard Day, we took an extra moment to admire one of Africa’s most magnificent animals. These big cats are solitary, elusive, and incredibly strong. They can lift prey twice their weight, and often haul them up into trees to protect their meals. Leopards can jump 10 feet vertically and 20 feet forward. It is pure magic if you are able to witness these majestic creatures in person. Their beauty combined with their power will have your heart racing when you’re face to face with a leopard!

Not every safari needs blue skies to be extraordinary. The “green season” reveals a different side of Africa with it dramatic clouds, vibrant landscapes, and a quieter, more intimate experience in the wild. Wildlife moves differently. The air has a different energy to it. Sometimes you have to work harder to find what you’re looking for, but the most unexpected conditions can create the most unforgettable moments!

This Earth Day, we’re reminded that the places we travel to - whether it’s the enchantment of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or the wonder of Victoria Falls - are not just destinations, but living, breathing ecosystems worth protecting.

Every journey has an impact. The question is, what kind will it be?

Travel thoughtfully. Travel with purpose. Protect the Earth.

Not all heroes wear capes – some have wings! On Bat Appreciation Day, we’re celebrating a creature that is often misunderstood, but always essential. Bats play a vital role in ecosystems across Africa, from pollinating plants to keeping insect populations in balance. On safari, it’s often the big game that takes center stage, but it’s also the quieter, lesser-known species like these that keep the entire system thriving.

Nowhere is their impact more visibly spectacular than in Kasanka National Park, Zambia. Each year, 8-10 million fruit bats fly in from the Democratic Republic of Congo, other parts of Zambia, and sometimes even Tanzania and Malawi, in the largest known mammal migration. Between October and December, the horizon fills with a living cloud as they emerge in search of food - dispersing seeds and sustaining the forest as they go. Misunderstood? Perhaps. Fascinating? Absolutely!

On this World Wildlife Day, we’re reflecting on the heart of what we do.

Creating unforgettable journeys is a privilege we never take for granted, but beyond the experience itself, there’s a deeper purpose that guides us: the protection of the wildlife and ecosystems that make it all possible.
Each itinerary we design is shaped with conservation in mind, and every partnership we nurture is rooted in preserving the wild places we’re so fortunate to explore. When you travel with purpose, you can help ensure these landscapes, and the animals that call them home, continue to thrive long after we’re gone.

Because experiencing wildlife is an extraordinary privilege, and helping to protect it is the true goal.

In today’s world, it can feel like time is moving a mile a minute. With so much overstimulation in most of our lives, it’s easy to get caught up and forget to appreciate each day as it comes. On safari, time tells a different story. Waking up early with the sun and the sounds of the wilderness, the buzz of constant notifications replaced with birdsong and the hum of wildlife emerging from the night. Watching the light stretch slowly across the landscape as the world comes to life around you. Stopping at a distance to observe a pride of lions in their natural habitat, with nothing to do but breathe deeply and take in what your eyes are witnessing. Sitting around a campfire beneath a sky thick with stars, reflecting on the moments that made the day unforgettable.

Even though a safari is one of the most exhilarating adventures you can embark on, it is equally defined by its stillness. It invites you to slow down, to listen, and to be fully present. In the wild, minutes feel expansive, distractions fall away, and you are reminded that time is not something to chase, but something to savor.

February 21 was World Pangolin Day, and we have a soft spot in our hearts for the world’s scaliest mammal! We encourage you to learn more and help spread awareness about this fascinating animal. Pangolins are the only mammals in the world covered in protective scales, and when threatened, they curl into a tight ball to shield themselves from predators. They are quite elusive creatures, and despite their impressive defense strategy, they are the most trafficked mammals on the planet, targeted for their scales and meat. All eight species of pangolin are now threatened with extinction, making education and conservation efforts more important than ever. Join us in celebrating this extraordinary species and supporting the work that researchers and conservationists are doing to protect them.

Pangolins are found across parts of Africa and Asia, and a few destinations have become known for conservation efforts. For those who dream of seeing one in the wild, it is possible, though always rare and never guaranteed - a reminder that some of nature’s greatest treasures reveal themselves only to the patient!

If you’d like to learn more about Pangolins, we highly recommend watching “Pangolin: Kulu’s Journey” on Netflix. It beautifully captures both the fragility and hope surrounding these remarkable animals.

This World Safari Day, we celebrate the power of travel to protect. When done with intention, a safari supports conservation, safeguards wildlife, and sustains the communities who call these beautiful places we are lucky enough to visit, home. Here is your reminder that meaningful travel can be a force for good!
