Our Shakedown Cruise was a success! There were 4 boats that were rafted up in Chuckanut Bay with some members hijacking rides with friends. It was a beautiful day this year!

Thanks to those who worked hard at the Opening Day breakfast and those who came to the breakfast in support of the Working Waterfront Coalition & Whatcom Maritime Heritage Museum! The proceeds will be split between these two organizations.

We have the following results to share: 150 breakfasts were sold. The breakfast sales were $1408.00 which includes $38 coffee only sales and $40 from the SYC swap meet tables. The raffle sales ladies who had way too much fun, sold $376 in tickets. All of these figures are the best we've had since 2019!

Temporary access interruption – Chatterbox Falls Moorage Facilities -Swíwelát, Princess Louisa Inlet

Princess Louisa Provincial Marine Park

To facilitate Phase 1 of infrastructure improvements at Princess Louisa Provincial Marine Park, specifically at the Chatterbox Falls location, work will be undertaken to replace the pier and the two sections of the main dock facilities. As we understand at this time, access to the park via the dock and ramp will be unavailable for a period of approximately fourteen (14) days at some point between May 19 to June 4, 2026, while this work is completed. The park itself will remain open, however boaters will not be able to access the park from the dock. At this time, it is our understanding that most of the main dock facilities are expected to remain available during the construction period for moorage only; however, this may change depending on project requirements and safety considerations. Members and visitors are strongly encouraged to check the BC Parks website for Princess Louisa Marine Park for the most current information regarding closures, access updates, and project timelines. http://www.bcparks.ca/princess-louisa-marine-park/ before planning any trips to the Inlet. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as these important infrastructure improvements are completed.

In addition, work will be conducted on the mooring buoys at both Chatterbox Falls and Macdonald Island April 30 - May 2. During this period, boaters may be required to temporarily relocate to facilitate these repairs for a few hours.

A big thanks to member Marin Faure for his talk about seeing Alaska’s Inner Passage by floatplane several times in the 1990’s. The photos were stunning and your talk was so inspiring. For those of you that are not familiar with Marin, he wrote a great book about our local floatplane company, Kenmore Air. A big thanks to Linda, John, Kris and Mike for hosting!

Our February speaker was Bob Gudmundson- you may know him from his vessel Desire selling salmon at Squalicum Harbor. While I have not read his book yet, I can report that Phil really enjoyed it and recommends it!
