Looking to take a vacation with the kids? If you’re thinking America, you might want to think again. Experts now say that, depending on where you fly, it’s often significantly cheaper to leave this country than stay in it.
While this is true for a bunch of different vacation destinations — for example, hanging out on the beach in Mexico is infinitely cheaper than doing so in Florida, even with the flight costs — one of the most striking examples of this in recent memory is Tokyo Disney.
If you’re one of those insufferable Disney adults who insists that every vacation must feature mouse ears, don’t worry; this applies to you, too! A user on TikTok recently priced it out and found that going to Japan from San Francisco, getting a hotel, and going to Tokyo Disney is about the same price or cheaper than trying to make a weekend out of it in Florida. Plus, while you’re there, you’ll have access to better food, better transportation, and an overall better vibe than Florida.
Sure, there’s a language barrier — but if Pluto doesn’t need the English language, neither do you!
