Today we celebrate the incredible ocean that makes everything we do possible.

Every trip aboard the Jersey Girl reminds us just how special the waters off the Jersey Shore truly are. From humpback whales and dolphins to seabirds and the countless marine species that call our coastline home, the ocean gives us something new to appreciate every day.

As we prepare for the return of the Jersey Girl following her major modernization project, we’re more excited than ever to get back on the water sharing these amazing experiences with our guests.

Protecting the ocean isn’t just important for wildlife—it’s important for future generations who deserve the same opportunity to experience the wonder of seeing a whale surface on the horizon or a pod of dolphins racing alongside the boat.

Thank you to everyone who supports marine conservation, responsible wildlife viewing, and our mission to connect people with the ocean we all love.

Happy World Oceans Day from all of us at Jersey Shore Whale Watch and the crew of the Jersey Girl! 💙🐋

Good news angle from the latest ENSO data: after such a cold spring, the developing El Niño pattern could help support warmer water later in the season and possibly extend our best whale-watching window into the fall. It is not a guarantee, but the signal is encouraging.

The big takeaway: spring was late and cold, but the ocean pattern may be shifting in our favor. If warmer water holds later into the year, we could still have a very strong late summer, fall, and possibly longer season.

No trip today Boat’s not ready yet and honestly the winter gusting to 35 miles an hour. It wouldn’t be a comfortable ride at all most likely we would canceled. The weather station is on top of my roof from my home so it’s super accurate for the beachfront.

weekend weather update: we have not heard of any consistent reports of whales in our area , there was a report of a young whale Monday off lavelette . We will be out there as soon as weather and whales align! Weekend weather looks very windy Saturday . For whale watching and boating, the biggest takeaway is wind, not rain.

Friday

* Northwest winds generally 10–20 mph.
* Seas should be manageable offshore.
* Cool temperatures and good visibility.
* Overall, a decent boating day.

Saturday

This is the day I’d be watching closely.

The forecast mentions 850 mb winds of 25–50 knots mixing down to the surface, producing:

* Sustained northwest winds of 10–20 mph
* Gusts up to 45 mph

For the Jersey Shore, a strong northwest wind is offshore, so you’re not dealing with a pounding head sea leaving Belmar. However, 30–45 mph gusts can create:

* Choppy conditions
* Whitecaps
* Uncomfortable motion for passengers
* Difficult docking and maneuvering
* Rougher conditions wherever wind opposes current

If those gusts verify near the higher end, I would expect many smaller boats to stay at the dock.

Sunday

* Winds ease considerably.
* Cool but mostly sunny.
* Better boating conditions than Saturday.

For the Jersey Girl

The forecast does not scream “storm seas” or “6–10 foot ocean” to me. It screams:

“Watch Saturday’s northwest wind.”

With your size vessel and offshore experience, the question becomes passenger comfort more than safety. A 100-foot boat can operate in conditions that would make a lot of customers ask, “When are we turning around?”

Saturday could be windy and uncomfortable with gusts approaching 40–45 mph. Sunday looks much better as the low pulls away and winds relax.
