Archery Hunting Season runs October 3- November 20, 2026. R***e Hunting Season runs November 28- December 13, 2026, including Sundays.

All hikers and highly encouraged to wear fluorescent orange clothing and keep to the trails for your safety. Be mindful of your surroundings.

🦌 ALWAYS BE ELK SMART! 🦌

We know everyone wants to capture that amazing Elk Country photo—especially when a big bull walks into view! 📸 But no photo is worth putting yourself or the elk at risk.

Even here at the Elk Country Visitor Center, it’s important to remember that these are WILD animals. Elk can be unpredictable at any time, and during the rut, bulls can be especially protective and aggressive.

⚠️ Give elk plenty of space.
🚫 Never approach, crowd, touch, or feed an elk.
📸 Use your zoom—not your feet—to get that perfect picture.
👀 Stay alert and be aware of what the elk are doing.
🦌 Follow posted signs, barriers, and staff instructions.

The fact that elk may seem comfortable around people does not make them tame.

❤️ Respect the elk. Respect the rules. Protect yourself. Protect the wildlife.

The Keystone Elk Country Alliance is proud to present the 2026 Conservation Education Scholarships in partnership with Seneca Resources, Company, LLC.

The Keystone Elk Country Alliance and Seneca Resources Company, LLC award deserving PA high school seniors continuing their education in the field of conservation, wildlife, science, or education a college scholarship of $1,000. This is the 7th year for this annual scholarship and this year we awarded seven scholarships. Each applicant is required to submit a portfolio with an essay about experiences in their lives that have inspired them to pursue the environmental field of studies, a letter of recommendation, and a letter of acceptance from a college or secondary education school.

After thorough review from our Scholarship Committee, we would like to congratulate our 2026 Conservation Education Scholarship winners, Cecily Bell, Isaac Grovanz, Morgan Kimmel, Dalton Koch, Maria Ours, Leanna Smith, and Riquel Tripodi. Each of these outstanding students have displayed what we feel is a strong representation of this field. With the increased number of applicants and award winners over the years, this scholarship remains competitive and well deserved.
