Being established in 1997, Silver Lining Tours is one of the oldest storm chasing tour companies in the world and is owned and operated by Roger & Caryn Hill. We combine our years of experience and storm chasing expertise with our state-of-the-art technology to produce consistently excellent results year after year. We are totally dedicated to making sure that you have the most rewarding and excit

ing storm chasing vacation that money can buy. From the moment you contact us to inquire about our offerings to the last farewell at the hotel at the conclusion of your adventure, we are there for you, eager to answer all of your questions, share our knowledge with you and, ultimately, show you the majestic power of the springtime atmosphere from relatively safe but thoroughly revealing vantage points. We also believe in public education. One of our primary objectives is to educate you, our participant, about the earth's most powerful storms while you are watching them in real-time. We also want to de-mystify the forecasting process, giving you real insight into how we predict the emergence of conditions that favor the development of severe weather. You will leave us with a much greater understanding of how and why these storms develop, as well as how we forecast them. Roger is always eager to share his knowledge and conducts "Weather 101" classes when time permits. After setting through a class with Roger, you'll have a greater understanding of storm chasing lingo, along with what it takes to find that elusive tornado! The bottom line, though, is about results. We consistently have the highest tornado intercept per tour rate of any company. Nobody finds more storms and tornadoes than we do. The secret to our success? It all begins with making a good forecast. We take a systematic and organized approach to producing our daily weather forecasts, a product that culminates in the selection of a target area (i.e., the location that we anticipate will experience the emergence of conditions most favorable for severe weather). Then we drive without hesitation into the center of our target area, using state-of-the-art wireless technology to download weather data on the go. This allows us to constantly refine and shrink our target area. As our chase team approaches the target area, we scan the skies looking for visual clues that either corroborate the digital data or suggest that a shift in strategy is needed. Often times, we are able to identify physical processes and features that the relatively coarse observational data cannot resolve. Once a storm has been targeted, we are highly skilled at positioning ourselves so that we obtain the best possible lighting and visibility of the storm and its elements. If you are interested in storm chasing, making new life long friends, seeing parts of the United States you never knew existed, being taken care of by expert guides/drivers as they keep you safe AND getting more out of your hard earned money while on vacation, then consider the best and tour with Silver Lining Tours for your chase vacation. Proof is in the photos and videos as seen on www.silverliningtours.com or Roger's personal site at www.stormchase.net

Hi Roger and Caryn,

We just wanted to say a huge huge thank you for what as been a monumental memory for us. Bill, Rick and Conner were stars, I never thought covering 2800 miles in 4 days will go so quickly. The thrill of the chase was so much more impactful that we could of ever imagined and fortunate to see 2 great storms.

Being on the road with my son laughing, watching films, talking, eating endless candy all with the added excitement of the storms has been simply priceless.

I hope to see you again one day!

Interesting shot from yesterday between Abernathy and Cone, Texas. This shot shows the eastern supercell, which we were on from a towering cu, the southern storm racing north and the new high based junk behind this to the west. And of course, it was the high based stuff that did the job when all three merged and local vorticity from the interacting cells produced a dusty tornado we couldn't see for a couple minutes. We played it right. Would have done the same thing again. Dry Texas soils generated a LOT of spin ups, and several reported "landspouts" weren't "landspouts", but a couple were. Landspouts do not form on the gust front. They form under developing storms along a boundary. See less
