Sometimes, a trip is more than just a trip.

In February, I was contacted by a family just two weeks after their 16-year-old son passed away from brain cancer. During treatment, he would watch videos of Italy — dreaming about the places he hoped to see.

This week, his family arrived in Italy, carrying his memory with them. That same teddy bear he held during treatment made the journey too. And so, in a way, did he.

It’s been a quiet reminder that behind every itinerary is a story — and some carry more weight than others. I’m grateful to my partners, Access Italy, who helped make this experience possible. But mostly, I’m grateful to this family for letting us be a small part of something so personal.
