For 16 years, Lindsay Gallery has been proud to be part of the vibrant arts and crafts tradition that makes Berea such a special place.

The story behind the gallery is rooted in a lifelong appreciation for creativity, craftsmanship, and hands-on learning. Before opening Lindsay Gallery, its owner spent 20 years as a contract engineer in the metals industry, teaching robotics and automated manufacturing at a vocational school. His wife dedicated 27 years to teaching elementary school.

Together, they brought a love of learning, making, and creativity into a new chapter with Lindsay Gallery.

Today, the gallery offers something for everyone — from beautiful jewelry and fascinating minerals and crystals to adorable plush animals and a wonderful variety of unique gift items. Whether you're looking for something special for yourself, a thoughtful gift for someone you love, or simply enjoy discovering beautiful and unusual things, there's always something new to explore.

At the heart of Lindsay Gallery is a love for Berea's remarkable arts and crafts heritage — and a desire to share that spirit with everyone who walks through the door.

What started with a love of candles, home fragrance, and beautiful design has grown into a small-batch candle company and storefront right here in Berea.

Meet Jennifer, the owner and maker behind Modern Zen Candle Company. Founded in 2021 and opened as a Berea storefront in 2025, Modern Zen creates hand-poured soy candles using 100% soy wax and high-quality, phthalate-free fragrances.

For Jennifer, Modern Zen is about more than making candles. It’s about creating something beautiful, intentional, and uniquely her own. She’s involved in every detail—from blending fragrances and pouring candles to designing labels, laser-etching wood lids, and creating the displays in her shop.

And you can experience that creativity for yourself! Through Modern Zen Social Candle Making Experiences, visitors can create their own custom fragrance blend and make a soy candle from start to finish to take home.

Now, Jennifer is preparing to unveil her 2026 Fall Collection, featuring new fragrances alongside returning seasonal favorites.

Proud to be a Kentucky Crafted Artist and Kentucky Proud Certified business, Modern Zen is a wonderful example of the creativity and craftsmanship that make Berea such a special place to visit—and a little piece of Berea worth taking home.
