Have you ever hitchhiked?

Here's my (boring) story of hitchhiking.
When I was a teenager, way back when, I was once walking home from work in the rain. A nice man and woman pulled up alongside me and offered to give me a ride home. I'm sure I looked like a drowning puppy. I hesitated, but ultimately got in the car. So dumb, I know.
Luckily we just went the couple of miles and they dropped me off. Everything was fine. But still to this day, I wonder what could have happened. I just got really lucky.
Because of this experience, I wrote a book called Escape the Dark, about a hitchhiker. It's my version of what could go terribly wrong!
