It is time for planting after all!

The Friends of the Southwest Virginia Museum will host their annual Spring Plant Sale this Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Plant Sale will offer a variety of indoor and outdoor plants and flowers for purchase, and all proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park.

Anyone interested in donating plants or flowers for the sale can bring them to the Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park between the hours of 8:30am and 4pm this Friday, May 2.

The Friends of the Southwest Virginia Museum is a 501(c)3 organization. Donations are tax deductible.

Looks amazing! We have a large retaining wall all around our downtown Big Stone Gap building, been talking about doing some art or mural projects with it. Just need to find the time!

New vendors, new services , and new faces!

Meet your new Farmers Market Manager Leanne Wallace!

Leanne Wallace is the new Market Manager for the Big Stone Gap Farmers Market. Originally from just over the mountain in Kingsport, Tennessee, Leanne and her family have proudly called Southwest Virginia home since 2023. She lives in Jonesville with her husband—a professional percussion instructor and small engine mechanic—their two wonderful daughters, and a lively bunch of pets.

Leanne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry from King University and previously served as the Community Outreach Coordinator for Keller Williams in Kingsport, where she connected agents with meaningful service opportunities in the community.
She brings a heart for connection and service to her role at the Farmers Market, with a goal of fostering a welcoming, supportive space for local vendors and the broader Big Stone Gap community.
