Emerald Tr, hopes you are enjoying your summer so far. Crazy between the rain and the extreme heat but on the days when its hot a cool dip in the pool is refreshing. So, just a quick word regarding any above ground or inground swimming pool. Based on some recent events in the news, owning a pool, while relaxing and enjoyable ,is a huge responsibility. Ask your insurance company why. Insurance companies and towns will tell you, YOU have to make sure there is no unauthorized access to your pool and you must have safety equipment and barriers to prevent this. The unauthorized people could be from family, friends to trespassers. Fences, alarms, gates and locks are to be used to keep unauthorized people gaining access to your pool, even family especially children. Even during normal use, Floating devices and life jackets should also be used especially for kids. Being a "good swimmer" doesn't mean nothing will happen. Accidents, injury or worse can happen in moments. All preventative measures, are supposed to prevent accidents such as injury or accidental drowning. Does preventative measures always work? No, there are stories every year of kids gaining access to a pool when no one is watching. There is a video of a toddler climbing up a ladder with a locked barrier so it happens. It makes it a million times worse when someone gets hurt or worse. Please, Make sure to maintain your pool alarm and make sure to use your locks and barriers when a pool is not in use. If you dont have a fence, look into getting one. Yes they can be expensive but it does the job. Please, if you own the pool, before anyone uses it, teach pool safety. Most will say "nothing will happen", until it does. Please have a safe and fun summer.
