✈️ Day 3 & our final stop on this summer’s travel camp adventure: JAPAN! 🇯🇵

Our little explorers wrapped things up in the yummiest way…with PB&J sushi rolls (chopsticks required 🍣😋).
They were blown away to learn that slurping your noodles isn’t rude in Japan… it’s actually a compliment! 🍜💨

We also morphed into ninjas (stealth mode: activated 🥷), got silly with some sumo walks 🤼‍♂️😂, and had a blast folding colorful creations during origami time! 🧠✨📄

This week has been full of adventure, learning, and laughter…and today we had to say goodbye to a few special explorers who are aging out of camp. 😭💛 Watching them grow over the years has been the biggest joy. We’re sending them off with so much love (and a suitcase full of memories)! ✨

Day ✌🏼 of Travel Camp took us to the land of pineapples, palm trees, and SPAM! 🌺🌴🍍

After vacationing in Hawaii this summer, I knew we had to go back…even if just for a day at camp! Here’s a peek at the fun our little explorers got into:

🏝️ Dreamed up their own island + brought it to life with Play-Doh
🌺 Learned a few hula moves (and definitely got our wiggle on!)
🍍 Tried two Hawaiian staples…pineapple + SPAM (they were brave!)
🎨 Got artsy with surfboard painting
🧩 Squeezed in some puzzle time while others finished up their masterpieces

We’re having the best time and can’t wait to see where we head next on Day 3! 🌍✈️

🇬🇷 Travel Camp Day 1 (part 1)

🌎 We first learned where we are in the world by learning our city ➡️ state ➡️ country ➡️ continent ➡️ world. It was fun seeing their amazement as we used Google Earth to zoom into specific locations.

🎶 They got introduced to the bouzouki and got to listen and dance to Zorba’s Dance.

🫒 We had a Greek FEAST made up of hummus, pita, olives, cheese, grapes and baklava. Their opinions on these items greatly varied. 🥴🤣

🏛️ They learned about the Parthenon and made replicas out of marshmallows and toothpicks. I think some of these explorers will make great architects one day!

💛 We wrapped up the day with a little spin-the-wheel game where they got crowned with a wreath for their correct answers. It was our version of the Olympics. 🤪

We may not have waves back home, but we never pass up a chance to try something new while on vacation.

I wiped out (a lot) and left with sore arms, but there’s something special about stepping outside your comfort zone…especially when the view looks like this! 😍

Special shoutout to Diamond Head for providing the best backdrop for the photo before I wiped out. 🤣

🌿💚 Papakōlea Beach: Hawaii’s Green Sand Wonder! 💚🌿

Did you know Hawaii is home to one of only four green sand beaches in the entire world? 🤯 Papakōlea Beach, located on the Big Island, is a hidden gem made of tiny green crystals called olivine…formed from an ancient volcanic eruption over 50,000 years ago.

Here’s what you should know if you’re thinking of adding this unique stop to your itinerary:

🥾 It’s a hike! You’ll need to walk 5–6 miles round trip to reach the beach. The trail is exposed with no shade, so bring water, hats, and sunscreen.
🛻 Local rides available: If you decide against the hike, there are locals offering rides on 4x4 trucks for a fee. Note these are unofficial and not recommended if you have any health issue that prevents you from being able to stabilize yourself while riding down rough terrain.
🌊 Swimming: The water here is beautiful, but the surf can be rough…and there is no lifeguard. If you or your kids aren’t strong swimmers, it is best to just take in the view from the beach.
💚 The Color: Many photos of this beach have been edited/filtered to show an unrealistic shade of green. If you’re expecting lime green sand, you’ll be disappointed. My photos in this post are unfiltered and give a true representation of the actual color of the sand…which is an olive green color.
📸 Worth it for the views! Even if you don’t hike all the way down, the cliffside views of the green sand and crashing waves are unforgettable.

We’re officially a Global Entry family! ✅🌎💨✈️

The hardest part of this entire process was simply finding a day where all four of us could attend this interview. And possibly mentally preparing myself to drive to Atlanta. 😆 We had a very short wait and our interview took a whopping 4 minutes! 🙌🏼

Quick reminder that Global Entry is now FREE for children as long as their parent/legal guardian is a member. Even more good news…AMEX cardholders receive a statement credit for one application fee when using your credit card to apply for GE.
