On this date — May 31, 2012 — Disney welcomed its first guests to Art of Animation Resort. 🎨✨

Inspired by Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid, the resort brought guests into the worlds of some of Disney and Pixar’s most beloved films through larger-than-life characters, colorful courtyards, and immersive family suites.

The Finding Nemo section opened first on this day, with the rest of the resort opening in phases throughout the summer of 2012. Today, it’s one of the most visually striking resorts at Walt Disney World.
