Starting October 12, 2025, the European Union will officially implement the Entry/Exit System (EES) for travelers entering from outside the EU/Schengen Area—including U.S., U.K., and Canadian citizens.
This new system replaces manual passport stamping with a secure, digital registration process designed to streamline border control and enhance security.
What to Expect:
• At your first entry into the EU/Schengen Area, border authorities will:
• Scan your passport
• Capture your facial image
• Collect your fingerprints
• Each subsequent entry and exit will be digitally logged—you will no longer receive passport stamps.
Why It Matters:
• The EES keeps track of how long travelers stay in the EU, helping enforce the 90/180-day rule for short-term stays.
• It applies to non-EU nationals, even if you don’t need a visa to enter.
It is recommended to allow extra time at passport control during the initial rollout period and traveling with any supporting documents that confirm your travel plans or accommodations.

White House to lift Covid testing requirement for international travel

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration is lifting its requirement that international air travelers to the U.S. take a COVID-19 test within a day before boarding their flights, easing one of the last remaining government mandates meant to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

A senior administration official said the mandate expires Sunday at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time, saying the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has determined that it's no longer necessary.

The official, speaking Friday on the condition of anonymity to preview the formal announcement, said that the agency would reevaluate the need for the testing requirement every 90 days and that it could be reinstated if a troubling new variant emerges.

They can use expired passports until end of 2021
