🌄 TP’s Day Trip Adventures: Wiseman’s View

Another beautiful adventure in the books! This time, TP’s Day Trip Adventures took us to Wiseman’s View in the Linville Gorge Wilderness Area of Pisgah National Forest, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.

Perched at approximately 3,400 feet in elevation, Wiseman’s View offers breathtaking long-range views into the spectacular Linville Gorge, with the dramatic peaks of Hawksbill Mountain and Table Rock Mountain rising across the gorge. The Linville River lies roughly 1,500 feet below the overlook, creating an incredible backdrop that truly makes you stop and take it all in. (Burke County Tourism⁠)

And getting there is part of the adventure! The winding, unpaved Kistler Memorial Highway takes you through beautiful mountain scenery, with plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife, wildflowers, and the natural beauty of the forest along the way. The Forest Service describes the road as a rough gravel road, making the journey just as memorable as the destination. (USDA Forest Service⁠)

The views, the winding mountain road, the fresh air, and the feeling of being surrounded by nature made this another perfect TP’s Day Trip Adventure! 🏔️🌿🦋

TP’s Day Trip Adventures: Little Switzerland & Emerald City

Today on TP’s Day Trip Adventures, we enjoyed an incredible day exploring some of the beautiful sights and adventures Western North Carolina has to offer!

We started our day at one of our favorite brunch spots—the Little Switzerland Chalet in Little Switzerland, North Carolina—where we enjoyed a delicious meal surrounded by breathtaking, long-range views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. ⛰️🥂

From there, we headed to Emerald City, where we explored two caves and tried our hand at gem mining, discovering some beautiful gems along the way! 💎🪨

To finish off our unforgettable day, we rode The Diamondback, a famous 12-mile twisting mountain road featuring more than 190 curves and nearly a 2,000-foot elevation change between the valley floor and Little Switzerland. The perfect way to end an incredible day of adventure through the mountains! 🏔️🛣️

Another amazing day, another great adventure! ❤️

Next week is Pollinator Week! To celebrate, Grandfather Mountain's naturalists are hosting a Pollinator Popup from 12 to 3 p.m. next Wednesday, June 24.
