Let’s keep Portola fire-safe and beautiful! 🌲🔥

The Portola Firewise Community is hosting a Green Waste Clean-up Event on Saturday, June 6th, and they need YOUR help! Whether you're a volunteer ready to lend a hand or a City of Portola resident needing assistance clearing yard debris, this is a fantastic community effort to reduce fire hazard risks.

🙋‍♂️ FOR VOLUNTEERS:
Help neighbors rake, gather, or haul green waste!

When: Saturday, June 6th | 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Where: Meet at Portola City Park (near the pool parking lot) at 7:30 AM.

What to Bring: Your energy, gloves, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

The Perks: Arrive early for donuts at 7:30 AM! 🍩 The Plumas County Fire Safe Council will provide a tool trailer, and Portola Rotary is treating all volunteers to an amazing lunch afterward featuring pulled pork, chicken salad, and more!

🏡 FOR RESIDENTS NEEDING HELP:
Do you live within the City of Portola limits and need assistance clearing pine needles/woody waste or having premade piles hauled away?

Deadline to request help: Friday, May 29th.

Bonus: The Fire Safe Council is offering a limited number of home hardening assessments for those who sign up!

(Note: This free disposal program is available to City of Portola residents only).

📲 HOW TO SIGN UP (Volunteers & Residents):
Scan the QR code on the attached flyer OR call the air district at 530-832-0102 ext. 3 (please leave a voicemail!).

🗓️ WANT TO HELP PLAN?
Join the Firewise team for their next planning meeting this Thursday at 6:00 PM at the Portola Library. New volunteers and leaders are always welcome!

A huge thank you to Portola Firewise, Northern Sierra AQMD, Plumas County Fire Safe Council, and Portola Rotary for making this event possible. Let’s show up for our neighbors! 💪

Your Community. Your Future.

One of the best things about living in Plumas County is the people—neighbors who care, who stay involved, and who show up for one another.

The League of Women Voters is hosting a series of nonpartisan candidate forums ahead of the June primary election. Three more opportunities are coming up:

📍 April 29 — Quincy Veterans Hall, 274 Lawrence St.
📍 April 30 — Chester Memorial Hall, 225 Gay St.
📍 May 5 — Graeagle Fire Hall, 7620 Highway 70

All forums begin at 6:30 p.m.

We invite you to stay informed, connect with your neighbors, and take part in shaping our community’s future. Civic engagement is one of the many ways we strengthen Plumas County together.

Looking for a great way to boost your business visibility while supporting our local youth? 🌲🏌️‍♂️

The Lost Sierra Chamber of Commerce is proud to share a fantastic community sponsorship opportunity from one of our members! Plumas Pines Golf Resort is currently seeking sponsors for their 2026 Concerts in the Grove series. These free community events are a beloved tradition, bringing neighbors together for live music under the pines in Graeagle.

This year, partnering with this event goes beyond marketing. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Kids First of Plumas County, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Kids First uses the game of golf to help underprivileged youth build character, practice discipline, and learn essential life goals.

Sponsorships are tax-deductible and offer high-profile exposure to both locals and visitors in a relaxed, family-friendly setting. Levels range from the $500 Bronze "Fairway" package to the $5,000 Exclusive Gold package, with in-kind opportunities also available.

The 2026 Concert Lineup:
🎸 May 23rd: The Brodie Stewart Band
🎸 July 3rd: Heavy Petty (Tom Petty Tribute)
🎸 Sept 5th: Life In the Fast Lane (Eagles Tribute)

Ready to invest in the youth of our mountain community while gaining great brand exposure? Reach out to Plumas Pines Golf Resort directly at (530) 836-1420 or visit www.plumaspinesgolf.com to secure your sponsorship!
