Cruisin’ Through the Century continues into Sunday in Normal for a 1950s-inspired roadside picnic celebrating the nostalgia and spirit of Route 66!

Enjoy retro tunes from Union Avenue, throwback prices on classic eats, roller skating with the Prairieland Punishers, vintage baseball with the Prairie Chickens, and all-ages games and activities. Normal is one of seven communities bringing a different decade to life during Route 66 Centennial weekend.

Cruisin’ Through the Century heads to Downtown Bloomington for a 1960s-inspired evening around the historic square.

Enjoy live music from the Illinois Symphony Orchestra and Motown Nation, classic cars rolling into downtown, family activities in the Groovy Zone, and a community celebration capped off with a historic, immersive projection mapping light show and birthday cake display on the façade of the McLean County Museum of History. Bloomington is one of seven communities bringing a different decade to life during Route 66 Centennial weekend.

Cruisin’ Through the Century continues in the 1940s at the American Legion in Towanda with a wartime-themed celebration featuring 1940s music.

Guests can explore walking tours of the arboretum and take part in a meaningful nod to the era by writing letters to stationed troops at an antique mailbox installation.

Additional festivities will take place at Duncan Manor, where Union Avenue will perform from 4:30–7:00 p.m. A curated bar and food truck will be available on site, and guests can tour the historic manor from 4:00–6:30 p.m. Tours are $10 per person.

Towanda is one of seven McLean County communities hosting themed celebrations during Cruisin’ Through the Century weekend as part of the Route 66 Centennial.

On Saturday, June 6, our Cruisin’ Through the Century weekend kicks off in Chenoa where the historic downtown transforms into a 1920s-inspired celebration!

Spend the day exploring downtown storefronts dressed in vintage decor, catching live entertainment and a barbershop quartet, and taking in the community’s Route 66 history alongside retro cars and small-town charm. Chenoa is the first of seven communities hosting themed celebrations throughout the weekend.
