Exactly 9 months from Hurricane Helene, Chimney Rock State Park will reopen on June 27th.

“Reservations will be required for all guests, including Annual Passholders. Initially, we'll be open Friday-Monday and space will be limited as we get back up and running. Reservations go live in the coming weeks at chimneyrockpark.com”

DID YOU KNOW??? The distinctive hue that inspired the Blue Ridge Mountains' name comes from the incredible diversity of trees and other vegetation the range is known for.

Lower elevations offer deciduous forests of oak, sourwood, hickory, maple, yellow birch, yellow buckeye, American beech, and tulip poplar. At elevations above 4,500 feet, evergreens such as Fraser fir, balsam, and red spruce are more abundant.

These trees release volatile hydrocarbons such as isoprene, which interacts with other molecules in the atmosphere to create the distinctive blue haze that envelopes the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The roads are busier than normal at the moment, so for those of you traveling, allow yourself extra time with the anticipation of higher traffic. It's Fall Y'All!

The color change is advancing daily, and the forecasted weather of sunny days and cooler temperatures through this weekend should bring about excellent conditions for leaf-peeping during a visit to Grandfather Mountain. Particularly scenic spots for viewing fall color this weekend are around the Swinging Bridge, Black Rock Trail and the picnic area near Forrest Gump Curve.
