Entries showcase photographers' interpretation of the character, people, places, and pursuits of the Southern Appalachians.

This competition provides both amateur and professional photographers the opportunity to showcase their interpretation of the unique character, people, places, and pursuits that distinguish the Southern Appalachians. Categories for the competition include: Adventure, Blue Ridge Parkway, Our Ecological Footprint,

Flora/Fauna, and Landscape. $4,000 in cash and prizes are made possible through the generous support of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, Footsloggers Outdoor and Travel Outfitters, Mast General Store and Appalachian Voices. A portion of the proceeds from the Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition support Outdoor Programs Student Outdoor Learning Expeditions at Appalachian State University. SOLE trips are educational journeys of discovery that take students around the world. Thank you to everyone who participated in the 19th Annual AMPC! The exhibition looks amazing. Be sure to check out the opening this Friday March 4 5 to 9pm at Turchin Center for the Visual Arts. Thank you to Virtual Blue Ridge Parkway, Mast General Store, Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, Appalachian Voices, Bistro Roca, Peabody's Wine & Beer, Footsloggers for helping to make it happen. It’s that time again! The 19th Annual Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition is now open for registrations and submissions. Amateur and professional photographers are encouraged to submit at www.appmtnphotocomp.org prior to the competition’s close at 5pm on Friday November 19, 2021. The Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition offers numerous categories that will be chosen as winners with over $4,000 in cash and prizes.

We are pleased to announce that the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts is implementing a gradual public reopening of their galleries.

Beginning on May 13, 2021, the Turchin Center galleries will be open to the public on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12 – 4 pm using a timed appointment/ticketing entry system.

Registration is required and reservations can be made using this visitor registration form.
