Hey everyone, it’s Dave! Say hi to my hiking buddy, Pemi. She’s named her after the Pemi Loop in New Hampshire’s White Mountains!

Pemi has joined me on countless adventures over the years, between trail runs, guided hikes, and weekend outings, I’d guess she’s logged well over 200 miles on White Mountain trails. Many of you may have met Pemi at some point on a hike!

One of the things I love most about the White Mountains is how dog-friendly they are. There’s nothing better than exploring the trails with your four-legged best friend by your side.

Summer is right around the corner, which means so is tick season. Here are some tricks to prevent ticks:

❌ If you find a tick attached to your skin, remove it immediately! Grasp it firmly with tweezers and wash the area with soapy water.
🚽 Dispose of the tick by flushing down the toilet
🏥 Your risk for Lyme disease is very low if a tick has been attached for less than 24 hours, so remove ticks ASAP.
☎️ It’s always best to contact a healthcare provider if you are unsure how long a tick has been on you.

In the White Mountains, tick season lasts from April to November, with peak season and Lyme disease risk being June through August. So do those daily checks!
