Some of the best trips are the ones you decide on almost too late.
Europe's Christmas markets are going to be in full swing soon, and there's still a narrow window to catch them before the holidays arrive. Three of our favorites, all bookable right now:
Dresden — the Striezelmarkt, one of Germany's oldest (since 1434), where a wooden Ferris wheel turns above stalls of Pulsnitzer gingerbread, roasted almonds and hot spiced w**e.
Berlin — the market at Alexanderplatz, where a rotating wooden Christmas pyramid three storeys high glows over the crowds and the Glühwein comes with a view of the city lights.
London — Leadenhall Market beneath its painted Victorian roof, hung with baubles the size of beach balls, a proper pub waiting at the end of every row.
