Boston in fall is everything summer promises but can't always deliver: the warm golden light without the heat, the Freedom Trail without the July crowds, and Acorn Street with the first hints of amber and orange in the trees.

Labor Day weekend is two weeks away. ☀️

Boston in late August is perfect - warm, less crowded than July, and the waterfront is fully alive.

If summer 2026 has been on your list and you haven't made it yet, this is your last easy window. The season runs through Oct 31, but nothing matches the energy of a summer weekend on the Freedom Trail.

Paul Revere never shouted, “The British are coming!”

Yep. One of America’s most famous quotes? Probably never happened.

On the night of April 18, 1775, Revere rode through the Massachusetts countryside warning colonist militias that British regulars were marching to Lexington and Concord. But he would never have shouted 'The British are coming' — because at that point, the colonists still considered themselves British. The actual warning was: 'The Regulars are coming out.' Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's 1861 poem turned the story into legend — and the legendary quote replaced the real one.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 1861 poem, Paul Revere’s Ride, helped turn the story into an American legend. Over time, the poetic version became more famous than the historical details.

History is a lot more interesting when you know what really happened.
