Paul Revere never shouted, “The British are coming!”

Yep. One of America’s most famous quotes? Probably never happened.

On the night of April 18, 1775, Revere rode through the Massachusetts countryside warning colonist militias that British regulars were marching to Lexington and Concord. But he would never have shouted 'The British are coming' — because at that point, the colonists still considered themselves British. The actual warning was: 'The Regulars are coming out.' Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's 1861 poem turned the story into legend — and the legendary quote replaced the real one.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 1861 poem, Paul Revere’s Ride, helped turn the story into an American legend. Over time, the poetic version became more famous than the historical details.

History is a lot more interesting when you know what really happened.

We've taken hundreds of "before and after" group photos over the years... and honestly, you can usually tell who's about to have the most fun before the tour even starts. 😆

Some groups show up looking serious. Others arrive already laughing. By the end? Everyone's smiling like they've known each other for years.
