You Can Do More Types of Travel With Your Kids: Part #2

Cities are good vacations for families. What?!? For real. Don’t let a big city scare you away. There are lots of things to do with kids. You don’t have to put yourself into a family travel rotation of Disney and beach (even if those are great options).

Some of our city favorites include:

- Sports events
- Parks
- Children’s, science, and natural history museums
- Food markets- Exotic food for mom and dad. Basic food for the kids.
- Plays/Theater/Movies/Shows
- Movie Locations
- Major Tourist and Historical Sites
- Local city specific sites- Chelsea Piers in NYC, High Line NYC, etc.
- Holiday themed activities

I truly believe some travel should be relaxing and some travel should make you a little uncomfortable. It’s good for kids to be uncomfortable too. They can do it all- riding the subway, walking a lot, going to museums, etc.! It helps the whole family build confidence.

A little Q1 client destination catch up. Lots of sunshine, family trips, exotic locations, and a big school adventure!

Let’s be honest, Q1 for a travel advisor is WILD. It’s our busiest booking months of the year aka wave season, and I had a 1-4 month old. We made it though!

Baby is thriving. Clients got out the door. Bookings are on par if not slightly ahead of last year. Social media… eh not as much, but we’ll get back in the groove!

You can do more with your family than a beach vacation. No shade to the beach. I love it too, but please don’t skip US National Parks. Even if you’re not “outdoorsy”. Most of the major sites are seen via driving or short hikes.

One of my biggest surprises of 2025 was Colorado. We had never been and were purposely waiting until a concert at Red Rocks we wanted to see was available. I started the year and this trip wasn’t even on my radar.

We dropped something else to make this one happen and what a treat it was. Our family all said it was one of our favorite vacations ever. It was really special showing my Mom and kids the majesty of the western US national parks for the first time. Seeing the concert I’d dreamed of for years wasn’t bad either. ⛰️

Activities:
- Rocky Mountain National Park
- Estes Park- Kayaking, town stroll, and Stanley Hotel
- Denver- downtown stroll with Larimer Square and Union Station, Museum of Nature and Science, Nature Walk in the City Park, and US Mint Tour
- Dinosaur Ridge
- Garden of the Gods
- Concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater

Food:
- Nola Jane’s- Denver
- Odie B’s- Denver
- Fish N Beer- Denver
- Hashtag- Denver
- The OG- Denver
- Eggs of Estes- Estes Park
- Antonio’s Pizza- Estes Park
- Notchtop- Estes Park
- Colorado Cherry Company - Estes Park

This is your travel advisor. Still a big personality that’s ready for adventure! A lot is different, but a lot is the same.

I love packing a bag for a good time.
I love a Disney trip. Total nostalgia and happy memories for me.
I love the beach.
I love Christmas and everything Christmas related.

This girl didn’t start traveling by plane until 16. We weren’t a flying family when I was young, but we always made special memories on family vacations. It was always a priority for my mom and those memories are important. ❤️

Me and airplanes have made up for lost time, but this girl made memories with her fam that were priceless.

Let me know if I can do the same for your family.

Did you know high demand attractions have advance reservation/ticket release dates and tickets sell out almost immediately?

If you want general entry tickets vs. paying more on 3rd party sites or maybe not getting tickets at all, you have to make sure and buy AS SOON as they go on sale. Some examples of these attractions:
🇫🇷 Eiffel Tower
🇮🇹 Vatican Museums
🇳🇱 Anne Frank House
🏰 Disney Dining and Lightning Lane Reservations

With the time difference between the US and Europe, it can be a little complicated if you don’t know what you’re doing. Trust a professional to help you navigate all the details of your once in a lifetime vacation.

My weekly PSA: Print your pictures and put them up in your home. Travel pictures, family pictures, professional pictures, or the ones you take with your iPhone. Your memories deserve more than cloud storage.

There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing pictures I took of our travels displayed in my home.

Evans Family Annual Priorities

I saw a friend and colleague mention once what her annual travel priorities were, and it stuck with me. If we speak our goals out loud, we hold ourselves more accountable to reach them. So… these are my family’s annual travel priorities/goals. I’ve been tracking our travels this way for a few years, and I love how it makes me think of our family time and memories made.

Beach
Family Vacation
US National Park
Adult Only with my Husband
Somewhere New
Girls Trip with my Mom

This doesn’t mean 6 separate trips. Sometimes 1 trip checks 3 of these boxes, but if I can get these in, this is when I feel the happiest and most fulfilled. Making goals doesn’t just apply to your career (even though travel is mine). It can apply to what you want to see in your life and literally where you want to go!

2025- What a year! A year filled with many unique destinations and adventure for my clients.

Why do I share my sales and client numbers annually? I NEVER mean to brag or be tacky, but I guess I want people to know how seriously I take my work. It’s a fun job, but it’s not a hobby. It’s a full time position that requires full time hours, effort, and stress. I truly love planning travel for people, and I like shouting that from the rooftops! My clients are seriously the best around.

I say to people all of the time that maybe my business would be a bit more efficient time, energy, and profit wise if I really settled in on a niche area of travel or destination, but… I really don’t want to. I love traveling in a variety of ways and to a variety of destinations (mountains, beach, cities, sightseeing, theme parks, cruises, relaxing vacations, busy trips, etc.), and I love planning that variety for clients too. It keeps me interested and on my toes in personal travel and professionally for you all!

I’m so grateful to have a job I love so much, but that also allows me to be flexible and present for my family. I never take it for granted and can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store.

What makes travel so special? Travel is special because it gives you experiences you’d never have at home. It gives you the bucket list item that you’d dreamed of seeing for years that you finally get to fulfill.

Two “bucket list” items we got to complete this year:

Scotland: My mom’s main request for Scotland was to see Highland cows up close. She always gives me an interesting/out of the box request on our European trips! I found a national park with a Hairy Coo “safari” where we got up close and personal with the cattle, got to feed them, and learn all about their breeding and conservation efforts. Highly recommend the tour at for anyone who is a Hairy Coo lover like my mom!

Colorado: I’ve been scouting the concert schedule at since my husband and I got married 14 years ago waiting for just the right time, artist, and concert that would be meaningful to us. I wasn’t going to Colorado without a concert at Red Rocks. We love live music, and I wanted whoever we saw there to be memorable and not just checking a box. It all finally came to fruition this past summer when announced tour dates there, and it was 100% worth the wait. Seeing one of my favorite artists somewhere like Red Rocks was enough to make me shed a few tears. I’ve been to lot of venues and live shows, but I don’t know how you top a place like that.

Travel isn’t just a checklist of tourist attractions. It can be as curated and personal as you want to make it. I do this for clients (and not just myself) day in and day out. You only get one life. You should see the things you dream of seeing!

Scotland: Final Stop- Edinburgh

Last stop for us was a drive back to Edinburgh with a stop at Balmoral Castle on the way. Balmoral Castle is the Royal family’s rural Scottish residence.

The three of us had been to Edinburgh on our previous trip so this was a quick pop in to see a few things we’d previously missed. This trip was about my mom’s list so we did an Outlander day tour, walked Victoria St., hiked Arthur’s Seat, and ate maybe the best Indian food I’d ever had for my birthday at Mother’s India Cafe.

Hotel: couldn’t have been any more different than our previous stops in Scotland! It is a hyper trendy boutique hotel with the typical Virgin brands style that has a location right off Victoria St. in Edinburgh that is so convenient. The rooms were small but really well appointed and ours had a great view of Edinburgh castle. One reason I also like this hotel is the roof top deck and views of Edinburgh Castle. Truly a gem in the middle of the city that I’d book for myself and clients again!
