Our tour yesterday got to witness this brand new bison calf’s first steps into the world!

With his ever encouraging new mother, he stumbles at first but knows he must get to his feet quickly. In no time, he’s having his first meal!

Looks like this bison just got a telling-off by the rangers for trespassing on the thermal features! 👮

Just kidding- bison can go where they please. But we can’t!

Remember when visiting Yellowstone to stay within designated trails and boardwalks and do not wander off in geothermal areas. Not only is it illegal, but the thermal landscape is delicate and dangerous. Trespassing can damage the features and can potentially lead to very serious injuries, or even death.

Even though bison don’t have the same restrictions we do, they have been seen with thermal burns on their legs, and even had their remains discovered in hot springs that they fell into and perished.

Yellowstone is a wild place!

Have you ever seen a harlequin duck? 🦆

These striking little ducks are one of the most unique waterfowl species in North America. With their bold slate-blue feathers, chestnut accents, and intricate white markings, male harlequin ducks look almost hand-painted. Females are more subtle in color, but just as beautiful as they navigate rushing mountain rivers with incredible agility.

Harlequin ducks are built for fast-moving water and can often be spotted diving beneath icy currents in search of aquatic insects and small crustaceans. In the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem, seeing one is always a special wildlife moment.

Keep your eyes on the water, you never know what Yellowstone might reveal next!

There are very few places in the world where we can watch two apex predators interacting- our recent tour had this spectacular experience viewing wolves and a grizzly bear sharing the same space, drawn in by a carcass in the water.

Yellowstone offers us front row seats to one of nature’s most magnificent ecosystems! 🐻 🐺
