Steven Tyler and Joe Perry out and about in Sarasota this past week. Joe Perry lives in Sarasota. He had lived on Longboat Key at one time.

THE TOXIC TWINS HAVE LUNCH IN SARASOTA
Sarasota resident Joe Perry got a visit from his longtime bandmate Steven Tyler today, as the legendary Aerosmith duo grabbed lunch at Morton's Gourmet Market. Morton’s is Sarasota’s premier specialty food store, offering a bakery and coffee shop, prime meats and seafood, and an impressive selection of wine.

The Toxic Twins were likely cooking up more than just lunch—perhaps making plans for what’s next. With Steven’s voice still on the mend, Joe Perry will be hitting the road with Joe Perry Project, including a stop at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa in Tampa on August 13.

Anyone who knows Steven knows how hard it is for him to stay off stage. He lives for the adoration of the crowd. Don’t be surprised if he makes a surprise appearance at Joe’s Tampa show for a song or two.

Sorry I haven’t posted recently. Our house on Longboat Key is going through renovations and is finally to a point where will will be listing it for sale. Deep water canal with dock. Deeded beach access which is very rare on the island. 2nd house on our property which is great for family and friends. Message me if interested.

! This photo is a closeup aerial view of the village of Longbeach on the north end of Longboat Key. he remains of the original Longboat-to-Anna Maria bridge can be seen in the shallow water of Longboat Pass. The bridge was destroyed by a storm and high tide or tidal wave in the 1930s.

Wow! Before the bridge was built connecting AMI to Longboat Key.

! This week, it's a view of Longbeach Village, Longboat Key and Longboat Pass in 1941.

You can see Jewfish Key, the Sister Keys and Sarasota Bay are on left, and Whitney Beach Resort is visible on Gulf side of Longboat Key. Gordon Whitney of Whitney Beach Resort took this photo for an advertising booklet for the resort.

! This week it's an aerial view of Anna Maria Island from the 1960s.

The photo shows the canals, roads and housing developments that grew after Manatee County's five-bridge program of 1957 made it easy for residents to come to the island. The white areas and canals at upper center of image became the Bimini Bay development. Roads had been laid out on School Key, the little green island to the right of Anna Maria Island, which soon became Key Royale, the elite development of the time. North of the tip of Anna Maria lies the white sand shoal that was Passage Key and beyond that is Egmont Key, former U.S. Artillery base and home to a lighthouse, pilot's station and bird sanctuary. In the upper right corner are the Mullet Keys and the former Fort De Soto.

! This week, it's an aerial view of the old wooden Cortez Bridge with projected route of the new 1957 bridge. This photo looks west from the Cortez bayfront across the old wooden bridge from Cortez to Anna Maria Island. The bridge was built in 1921 and replaced in 1957. A dark line has been drawn on the original photograph, showing the planned line of the new 1957 bridge.
