And then there are the ones you'd sign up to do again tomorrow. 😂

Whitewater rafting the Kaituna River in New Zealand definitely falls into that second category for me.

There are moments when I travel when I wonder exactly what I've gotten myself into...

This may have been one of them. 😳

But then you come out the other side laughing, soaking wet and thinking, THAT was amazing.

Those are often some of my favorite travel memories—the experiences that get me a little outside my comfort zone and give me a story I'll still be telling years later.

And yes...I'd do this one again. 🇳🇿

“We should totally take a girls' trip!”

Everyone agrees.

Destinations start getting tossed around.

Someone sends a resort.

Someone else sends a cruise.

And then...nothing happens. 😆

Sometimes the hardest part of a group trip is simply getting everyone from “we should” to “we are.”

One of my favorite things to do when I travel?

Try the local food — especially the places the locals tell me I need to try. 😋

Give me the little neighborhood spot, the market stall, the roadside stop or the place that's been serving the same thing forever.

It doesn't have to be fancy. In fact, sometimes the best food memories aren't.

This was one of those stops — nothing staged, nothing fancy, just me happily trying the local favorite. 😂

Food is such a big part of experiencing a destination for me. You learn a little about the people, the culture and sometimes even the history through what they eat.

So I'm curious...

What if the girls' trip you've been talking about was...Australia?

These ladies did exactly that.

I planned their Australia getaway around something they already loved — tennis — and then we built their Australian adventure around it. 🎾

That's one of the things I love about planning Australia.

A girls' trip doesn't have to look like anyone else's.

Maybe your group wants Sydney, wildlife and wine.

Maybe it's beaches, great food and a little spa time.

Maybe there's a concert, sporting event or special celebration that becomes the reason you finally say, “We're doing it.”

Australia gives us a lot to work with.

The journey may include:

⏰ How long you want to travel
🌎 What kind of vacation you actually want

And then choose one person to be the group's main point of contact.

Otherwise, one person finds a luxury resort, someone else sends an Airbnb, another wants a cruise, and suddenly your relaxing getaway has become a full-time job. 😂

A little agreement at the beginning can make planning—and traveling together—a whole lot easier.

There's something about Jamaica.

The sunsets of Negril.
The energy of Montego Bay.
The lush scenery and waterfalls around Ocho Rios.

And then there are moments like this — the music, the people, and that unmistakable Jamaican energy. ❤️💛💚

But one thing I've learned from planning Jamaica vacations is that where you stay can completely change your vacation.

Someone looking for a quiet romantic escape may want something very different from someone who wants music, entertainment, and activity from morning until night.

That's why I don't start with “Which resort is the best?”

I start with “What do you want this vacation to feel like?”

You might notice I'm looking down at this glass floor like I'm not entirely sure I trust it. 😂

This was at the Sky Tower in Auckland, and here's something you may not know about me:

I'm afraid of heights.

Yet somehow when I travel, I keep finding myself doing things that involve them.

I won't pretend the fear suddenly disappears. It doesn't. But I've learned that I can be nervous about something and still do it anyway.

And I'm usually really glad I did.

Travel has a funny way of getting me outside my comfort zone—even when part of me would much rather be standing on a nice, solid floor. 😄
