Due to the application of herbicide destroying the largest rookery of wading birds in North America, the birds are no longer nesting there in the winter and springtime, but year-round at sunset, the birds migrate into the rookery area every day to safely roost at night.

As much as I love egrets and American Lotus, I am sorry to say the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Division of Plant Control has as of last year wiped out the lotus, and the egrets are feeling it too! Government overkill? OK, don't get me started!

There is no time like spring time in the swamp! Winter tends to be too cold and summer too hot, but ohhhh do I love to spend time in the swamp when thhe trees are greening out and the birds are nesting!
