Trip Recap: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Feb 2-7, 2025
Resort: Dreams Cap Cana
Day before departure: I go to check in for our flights and realize my husbandโs passport expired in 2/24!!!! Panicking, I call my stepdaughter and she agrees to โhelp me outโ and takes a week off of school so we can go together. Poor Dustin had to stay behind. Lesson learned: CHECK YOUR PASSPORTS!!
Since Cadence is not 18, I had to switch the resort from Barcelo Bavaro Beach (which I had researched for weeks before booking) to Dreams Cap Cana, which had room for us.
Departure Day: Everything went very smoothly, we had one layover in Minneapolis, everything was on time and flights were smooth.
Arrive in Punta Cana, we used Amstar for our airport transportation. Their list still had Dustin and Barcelo Bavaro on it, so they called Dreams Cap Cana and verified the change. At Dreams Cap Cana, checked in (took about 10 mins), hit the buffet (tons of food options!) and settled in to our room.
The rest of the trip consisted on laying by the pool, swinging on swings at the pool bar, and reading (I finished 4 1/2 books!).
The staff is so friendly! Cadence made friends with everyone - the staff in particular was really great and would help her with her Spanish!
The Sports Bar has the best onion rings!!
The resort is currently switching over from Margaritaville to Dreams Cap Cana and is booking at 60% capacity. The lines were nice and short and we always found a beach chair! They are working on making the beach swimmable, right now the water isnโt accessible, so there was some construction noise but that didnโt bother us.
Overall, would recommend this resort!
