I woke up today in the most amazing place, a town surrounded by icebergs. Ilullest is on the edge of a glacier fjord. The iceberg that sank Titanic likely came from this glacier. We did a boat trip through the ice and got up close to hear the sounds of the melting ice. After that we visited the local museum and walked to the water edge. Truly a magical experience.

Day 1 on in Greenland. We left Nuuk last night and sailed north. The sun only set for maybe three hours so we went to sleep and awoke in full sunshine. So, naturally we spent the day at the pool. We also celebrated the traditional Arctic Circle welcome with the Viking God, Njord. Ending the day with Champagne and iceberg watching.

Absolutely fabulous second day in Epernay and Reims. We started the day at Ruinart in Reims, the oldest Champagne house in the world. The 2016 vintage was the best Champagne I have ever enjoyed. Later we visited the obligatory Moët et Chandon to see the many kilometers of cellars under the Avenue du Champagne. Our hotel is top 5 stars in the world. I couldn’t have had a better experience here. Now I just have to learn how to pronounce Reims properly!

Day one of our visit to Epernay in Champagne. We visited two small family owned houses and learned the traditional and modern ways of making champagne. A visit to the grave of Som Perignon was mandatory. The country side is absolutely stunning and there is not a bad glass of champagne to be had.
