U.S. citizens traveling to most European countries should expect new automated border checks and to have their biodata digitally collected upon arrival and departure. Starting May 7, 2025, U.S. air travelers (including those flying domestically) who do not present a REAL ID-compliant license or acceptable alternative can expect to face delays, additional screening, and the possibility of not being permitted into the security checkpoint. If you don't have a state-issued REAL ID yet, a passport can also be used to meet this requirement.
