What happens when art and community come together? Join us on June 22 as we unveil a new public art installation celebrating the spirit of generosity in Brookings.

Created by artist Nancy Rasmussen, this vibrant utility box transformation honors the values that strengthen our community: hope, compassion, impact, service, resilience, and connection. The artwork serves as a tribute to the nonprofits, volunteers, donors, and community members who make Brookings and Brookings County a better place every day.

What an incredible evening celebrating the unveiling of the Brookings Community Mural in celebration of America's 250th!

We were thrilled to see such a great turnout of community members gathering to find the tiles they painted and see how their individual contributions became part of something much bigger. Watching families, friends, and neighbors search for their pieces was a powerful reminder that every person plays a role in shaping the story of Brookings.

This mural is more than a piece of public art—it is a symbol of what happens when a community comes together around a shared vision. Hundreds of individual tiles now create a lasting work that reflects the creativity, pride, and connection that make Brookings special.

As Brookings Regional Growth Alliance brings together community development, hospitality, and business support under one organization, this mural serves as a fitting representation of the work ahead. Just as each tile contributes to the finished artwork, every resident, business, visitor, and partner contributes to the continued growth and success of our region.

Thank you to everyone who painted a tile, attended the unveiling, and helped bring this project to life. Together, we're creating something meaningful for generations to come.

Mural Mosaic

Last night, we officially unveiled the community mosaic mural in celebration of America's 250th and what an incredible moment it was! This project would not have been possible without the many community members, partners, artists, volunteers, and supporters who helped bring this vision to life.

As we continue celebrating America's 250th birthday, this mural stands as a tribute to our history, our community, and the people who continue to shape our future.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in making this project a reality. We can't wait for you to see it in person!
