Another vintage picture from back in the day! 🦊

My trapping setup back then was an old gas-guzzling, two-wheel-drive Dodge. In the back of the truck sat my Honda FourTrax, which I’d use to get into those places the truck simply couldn’t go.

Back then, we didn’t need written landowner permission to trap, and it seemed like the places to trap were endless. There were always new roads to explore, new pieces of ground to check out, and plenty of adventure waiting around the next corner.

I completely understand the reason for the written permission law, and I respect it. But I’ll tell you what… trapping sure was a whole lot easier back then!

Looking at old pictures like this sure brings back some great memories. Who else remembers the good old days of trapping? 🪤🦊

Best salmon of the year for us so far! 🎣🔥

This young man did an awesome job fighting this fish and keeping the pressure on all the way to the net. It’s not always easy to stay calm when a fish like this starts making those runs, but he handled it like a pro!

And I mean… LOOK at the hook jaw on that thing! 😳 What a beautiful salmon!

A fish like this is exactly why we love being out there. Congratulations, buddy—you earned this one! 👏🎣

A nice salmon for the frying pan. 🍳 clients tell me the salmon from Sebago Lake are some of the best eating salmon? I wouldn’t know cause I’ve never loved trout or salmon. We are more of a panfish eating family!

This is a picture of the first—and only—bear I’ve ever shot. This was the year before the last referendum when there was an effort to ban bear baiting here in Maine.

I’ve never been a big fan of bear meat, but at the time I figured there was a chance this could be my last opportunity to hunt bear over bait. So, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity.

Looking back, it’s one of those hunts I’m glad I experienced. Whether you’re a bear hunter or not, there’s something special about looking back at old hunting pictures and remembering the story behind them.

With bear season upon us, I figured it was only fitting to dig this one out of the archives.

Who else has an old hunting picture that brings back some great memories? 🐻
