Today officially marks the 100th anniversary of The Arthur F. Smith Lumber Co.! For an entire century, we have had the absolute privilege of helping build Brownsville and supplying the hardware and lumber needs of our neighbors all across West Tennessee.

What started as a dedicated family business in 1926 remains a proud, family-owned tradition. From foundation blocks to roofs and everything in between, we are incredibly grateful to the generations of customers, contractors, and DIYers who have walked through our doors.

Brownsville and Haywood County, Tennessee, marked another historic moment on September 1 as Mayor Jeffery Richmond took office as the first African American to serve as Haywood County Mayor.

The story of Soul Town is written by its people, its progress and the moments that shape our community for generations to come. We congratulate Mayor Richmond and wish him much success as he begins this new chapter of leadership and service to Haywood County.

Planning a Labor Day visit to Brownsville? Be sure to stop by the West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center early—the Center and museums will close at 1 p.m. Monday. Please help us spread the word! 🇺🇸

LABOR DAY HOURS

The West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center—including the Tina Turner Museum at Flagg Grove School and the Sleepy John Estes Home—will close at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 7, for Labor Day.

If you’re planning a visit, please arrive early so you’ll have plenty of time to explore. We will reopen Tuesday, September 8, at 9 a.m. with regular hours.
